Gum Chewing and its Threat to Aviation at CVG

Belive it or not but security takes a back seat to “Gum Chewing” here in Cincinnati. It has been an ongoing battle since day one between TSO’s and Management. Part of the code and conduct is that TSO’s are not allowed to chew gum while working. It make sense, it’s unprofessional. But for some reason TSA management can not get a grasp on this simple problem. Realistically gum chewing is a protest because of the lack of respect the management has for its employee’s. If the management is not going to follow the rules then why should the screeners. From the security standpoint this is nothing more than another distraction that can effect the safety of you flight. It is things like this that screeners have to worry about though out the day instead of looking out for people whom want to do you harm. So the next time your fly through CVG ask a screener if they would like some gum. You will probably get a laugh.

So at some airports coming through the checkpoint with lots of gum for the TSOs working there might make me unpopular with TSA management?

…but it would make us popular with the front line staff?

Do you know what flavors CVG TSOs prefer?

      Any flavor will do.

Wal-Mart has buckets of Double Bubble chewing gum for around $4.00. Might provide for some rather inexpensive fun…..
